Squirrels

Hello and welcome to Squirrels class page

This is home to a brilliant Year 3 and Year 4 class, with Miss Drake to lead our way. We also receive amazing support from Mrs Feld and Mrs Briggs during our busy week.

Topics include the Industrial Revolution, Rainforests and the Tudors. This year, we had an fantastic trip to Lincoln Cathedral to support our learning in our ‘Lincolnshire compared to the UK’ topic. We had an interesting tour, made stained glass windows and even acted out a wedding!

We read and study a class text each term. We have been reading and studying ‘The Accidental Prime Minister’ and ‘Chitty Chitty Bang Bang’ this year. We have created newspaper reports, leaflets and diary entries based on these books.

Here are a few things you need to know:

  • Our PE days are on Tuesdays and Thursdays. However, we do ask the children to bring their PE kits in on a Monday and take them home on a Friday just in case there are unplanned changes in the week.
  • We are given homework and spellings weekly. These are given out on Fridays and due back by the following Friday.
  • We have a spelling test and a times tables test on a Friday morning.
  • We are expected to be reading at home at least four times per week. This should be recorded in the reading diary. We should bring our reading folders into school every day.
  • We can use Times Tables Rockstars and Pickatale to support our learning at home.

A normal day in our class consists of Handwriting, Maths and English. The afternoons are filled with lots of other exciting subjects such as Topic, RE, PE, PSHE, Art and Science.
