Welcome to Owls Class - Year 6.
In Year 6 we study a variety of different topics, including Ancient China, Earth and Space and World War Two. This year, we have experienced a fantastic trip to Lincoln Cathedral and are excitedly looking forward to the Planetarium coming into school to enhance our learning about Space and our Solar System.
In a normal week, PE days are Monday and Thursday with Mr Wood. However, we do ask the children to bring their PE kits in on a Monday and take them home on a Friday just in case there are unplanned changes in the week.
Maths homework is sent out on a Thursday and should be submitted by the following Wednesday. Weekly spellings are handed out on a Friday and tested the following Friday.
Children are expected to read at home at least four times a week. This can be with an adult or independently and should be recorded in the reading journal. We encourage children to read a wide variety of texts: Online books can also be downloaded for free using their school Pickatale account.
A normal day in Year 6 consists of Spelling, Maths, English and Comprehension every day, with a selection of non-core subjects through the week: PE, Science, RE, Music, French, Computing, History, Geography and PSHE.
