At Stallingborough CE Primary School we follow the National Curriculum which can be downloaded by clicking the link below.
We have designed a 3 year curriculum plan, based on our school's vision, covering all areas of the curriculum and linking subjects through exciting termly themes in KS2 and half termly themes in KS1 (See link below for examples and Topic/Homework menus / Long term plans on the previous page).
We know that Maths is key in the world beyond school and we want all our children to have a deep understanding of all the concepts. We teach the small steps of learning using pictoral, concrete and abstract resources. We use resources such as Power Maths, NumberFun and White Rose to support our teaching. (Please see the Maths policy, topic planners and Calculation policies for more details).
Each year group uses a class book, including Power of Reading books, linked to the termly theme, which enable the children to gain a deep understanding of stories, factual books and a love of drama and film. The lessons we devise include reading, writing, spelling, listening and handwriting. We have guided reading sessions, age-appropriate SPAG lessons in all year groups and Phonics lessons in FS and KS1. We work hard to ensure that all children are competent and confident readers, have excellent phonic skills and enjoy reading at home and school. We promote reading in many ways, including using our school library regularly, a reading club, rewarding home reading and enjoying book days.(Please see more information in the Literacy policy).
