The Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum
The Early Years is a vital building block in a child's school career. At Stallingborough CE Primary School, we place a high emphasis on fostering a love of learning by creating a safe and stimulating environment and by giving the children the tools to develop their independence and enquiry skills.
Within the Early Years, we follow a long term plan that clearly shows coverage of the following areas:
Personal, Social and Emotional Development (PSED)
Making Relationships
Self-confidence and self awareness
Managing feelings and behaviour
Creating and Thinking Critically
Listening and Attention
Understanding
Speaking
Physical Development
Moving and Handling
Health and Self Care
Expressive Arts and Design
Exploring and using media and materials
Being Imaginative
Mathematics
Numbers
Shape, Space and Measures
Literacy
Reading
Writing
Understanding the World
People and Communities
The World
Technology
We include the children's own interests by asking the children to work together to choose their topic. The teachers then plan the content to meet the needs of the children through this topic. Children are assessed through ongoing observations during teacher led and child intiated activities. We use Tapestry to record, assess and communicate learning with parents. Parents can also contribute to their child's learning journey on Tapestry.
If you would like any additional information about the Early Years Curriculum, please speak to your child's class teacher.
