The Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum
The Early Years is a vital building block in a child's school career. At Stallingborough CE Primary School, we place a high emphasis on fostering a love of learning by creating a safe and stimulating environment and by giving the children the tools to develop their independence, resilience and enquiry skills.
Within the Early Years, we follow a long term plan that clearly shows coverage of the following areas:
Communication and Language
- Listening, Attention & Understanding
- Speaking
Personal, Social and Emotional Development
- Self Regulation
- Managing Self
- Building Relationships
Physical Development
- Fine Motor
- Gross Motor
Literacy
- Comprehension
- Word Reading
- Writing
Maths
- Number
- Numerical Patterns
Understanding the World
- Past and Present
- People, Culture and Communities
- The Natural World
Expressive Arts and Design
- Creating with Materials
- Being Imaginative and Expressive
Children will be assessed against these Early Learning Goals at the end of the academic year, as either Emerging or Expected.
We take into account the children's interests and then plan the content to meet the needs of the children through each topic. Children are assessed through ongoing observations during teacher led and child intiated activities. We use Tapestry to record, assess and communicate learning with parents. Parents can also contribute to their child's learning journey on Tapestry.
